Intrede van Christus in Brussel

Inspired by the world famous painting of Ostend’ James Ensor. In the top left corner, the dignitaries and the mayor of Brussels sit on a sort of funfair carousel. Among the common crowd you can spot the Three Wise Men in the middle; some people are enthusiastic some are sceptical. On the right, the secret police on horseback, very visible and not so secret. Christ sits on a donkey and wears the colours of Brussels Royal Anderlecht football team.

NL- Ik ben een groot bewonderaar van James Ensor. Zijn wereldberoemd doek De Intocht van Christus in Brussel uit 1888, diende mij tot inspiratie. Ik spot met het gekonkelfoes van de Brusselse politiekers; het volk met de scepticus, de enthousiaste, de gefrustreerde, de arme, de rijke, de muzikant, de drie koningen, alles zoekt een plaats. Prominent vooraan treedt Christus op zijn ezel met een shirt van RSC Anderlecht.
