Oil and Damar resin on canvas, dyptich, 40x80cm+80x80cm
About Louise and how I reflect on memories.
Lemons recur on the table — a familiar attribute throughout my work, their connotation not far to seek. The man in black and white, the woman in colour. Presence and absence coexist without resolving into narrative.
The work once carried a second title, The Green Door, referring to a separate 40 cm panel attached to the main painting with hidden bolts, acting as both threshold and interruption. It allows the viewer to enter unexpectedly.
